REDEMPTION: WHO WILL WIN THE 2005 BELMONT STAKES?
The 2005 Belmont Stakes, which will be held on June 11 in the city that never sleeps, New York City, is on its way to conclude this year's race for the Triple Crown title. The said title is something that can be considered as horse racing's Holy Grail and it saw two closely contested wars in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes.
With two legs of the race for the Triple Crown done, it all comes down to New York City for the conclusion of this three-race horse war. The 2005 Belmont Stakes is just around the corner, get your betting propositions ready.
Giacomo, being the winner of the 2005 Kentucky Derby, the first leg of the race for the Triple Crown, lost the recently held 2005 Preakness Stakes in Pimlico to none other than Preakness favorite Afleet Alex.
Afleet Alex overcame what could have been a disastrous outing to win the Preakness war. The Preakness favorite was gunning for the leading contender when Scrappy T cut him off. And then it happened, as if Afleet Alex was irritated by the left-handed whipping of Ramon Dominguez, Afleet Alex stumbled and almost took away jockey, Jeremy Rose's balance from his seat.
Overcoming adversity, Afleet Alex and his 26-year old jockey regained their composure, recovered their balance, and zoomed past Scrappy T to win the battle in Pimlico. Scrappy T finished just right behind them with Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo, despite being denied of 
the Triple Crown, finishing third fastest.
It was Afleet Alex, the favorite to win this leg, came out on top in the legendary Pimlico Race Course. As a result, horse racing's Holy Grail will remain in limbo this year. That also means that in June 11, the field will all be even as all horse contenders will go out for one single purpose, redemption. All of these horses will zoom out of the gates, determined to come out on top at the 2005 Belmont Stakes in New York City. This year's horse war is heating up, you better get your betting propositions straight.
