WILL THE 2005 BELMONT STAKES PASS THROUGH A BELLAMY ROAD?

The 2005 Belmont Stakes, which will be held on June 11 in the city that never sleeps, New York City, is on its way to conclude this year's race for the Triple Crown.

Giacomo failed to resume his quest for the Triple Crown, horse racing's Holy Grail, when a colt named Afleet Alex overcame disaster and blazed through all contenders to win the second leg of the three-race horse war.

In the end, it was the Preakness Stakes favorite, Afleet Alex, who came out on top in Pimlico, much to the delight of horse racing bettors from all over the world.

However, one favorite looms in the horizon and is bidding to make a comeback for the last leg of this year's three-race face-off in the horse racing world.

A colt named Bellamy Road.

Bellamy Road was the favorite to win this year's Kentucky Derby only to finish to a solid but rather disappointing 7th place finish.

Bellamy Road went down at the Kentucky Derby and boy, did he fell down hard, resulting in a no-show at the second leg of the race for the Triple Crown.

However, there are reports that claim Bellamy Road could be back in training in the next three to four weeks. Edward Sexton, the man running Steinbrenner's Kinsman Farm in Ocala, Fla., said that the popped splint in Bellamy Road's left front leg was a very minute injury.

“He'll be back in full training in three to four weeks,” Sexton proclaimed. “The Belmont is looking doubtful, but we'll just have to see what happens.”

This could be a bitter-sweet statement. However, this developments mean only one thing for the remaining contenders, the 2005 Belmont Stakes is shaping up to be one heck of a ride.
